Gardening Day

The garden has been needing some serious attention so we decided to have a family gardening day. Gwyneth was very helpful and Corin mostly patient.

Still enjoying the novelty
This is his questioning-my-parental-judgement look. Right now it says "If you are going to leave me here on this blanket in the freezing cold don't you think you should stay focused on the task rather than take a million pictures?"
Venturing off the blanket. "Is it safe"?

Gwyneth waters the transplanted plants. All in all I would have to say the day was a success but we got the bulk of the work done during naps. Once Corin figured out the grass wasn't so bad he was all over the place.
Now for the pretty pictures, check out the Picassa page through this link:

The Importance Of Being A Little Brother

Corin is getting introduced to all the benefits of having a big sister. Including being dressed in fairy wings. He drew the line at the wand though. He wasn't going for that.

Watch Out World Here I Come

Here he is in action. The unstopable Corin. If you haven't heard, he also now has two teeth. So he thinks he's pretty cool.

Okay, now check out this interaction. Now that Corin can get anywhere he wants to we get a lot of this:

In this series, big sister clearly has the upper hand. But this is not always so.
Okay, so I know I totaly slacked on the blogging, but some of this stuff needs the story, not just the Picassa albums, so every now and then, I might just update this sorry blog. And now I can put slideshows on the blog too which should take you right to Picassa for the full album, so maybe you'll get the best of both worlds?

Meet trouble IMG00138.jpg

Corin has learned how to crawl and is into everything, including his sisters space. There are just not enough high spaces to put her stuff. Gwyneth has had a pretty good attitude so far, but I see a world of conflict ahead of us. Corin on the other hand is very proud of himself.

My 3 foot high 3 year old Fairy Princess

So Gwyneth had her 3 year old check up at the doctor's today. She is a whoping 39 1/2 inches (95%) and 33 lbs (75%). She did great and is pretty healthy, so that's all there is to report. I cannot believe my little girl is 3.

Proof

Jeremy actually got a picture of her asleep on the kitchen counter! Just in case you didn't get a good enough visual from my last post.

Sleeping beauty

I left for a doctors apt this afternoon and returned to find gwyneth asleep in our bed at 5pm. I guess she fell asleep sitting on a stool with her chin resting on the kitchen counter while Jeremy was making dinner. she has been wearing her princess dress all day. This princess craze is pretty new. It was inspired first with the shrek movies(thank you papap) and subsequently all other Disney princess movie we have been suckered into renting. I don't know how dreamworks would feel about this ironic twist on their anti fairy tail.

Auntie's Sleepover

Gwyneth spent last weekend with her Aunt Christina while Corin and I drove down to Portland to meet up with Jeremy. You can see she is exercising her toddler right to dress in a way all her own. Auntie Christina took this picture and I can only assume the umbrella and Totoro picture being together is no accident. Those of you who have seen "My Neighbor Totoro" will understand.
There is something anxiety inducing in driving hundreds of miles away from my child. I left my sister a novels worth of instructions and talked her ear off before leaving and still hyperventilated for the first 100 miles. Although to be fair Corin's screaming was the real cause of about 30 miles of hyperventilation. Seeing these pictures when I get back and knowing that at this moment and probably every other moment of the weekend Gwyneth was in blissful land of anime pretent with her beloved Auntie helps me to remember that I am not and cannot be the sole source of my child's feelings of love, security and happiness. And I actually got to eat a very nice meal with adults while leaving Corin with a babysitter at the Hotel. See I can let go every now and again.

ouch

Gwyneth got her biggest "bonk" on Saterday. The front sidewalk jumped up and grabed her while she was running around. She was pretty brave, after getting cleaned up she promply asked to go outside again. She can't wait for nicer weather, she's definitely an outside girl.Posted by PicasaTo make matters worse a couple days later she slipped inside and landed right on the bump on her forehead...double ouch.

Look who's smiling

Okay I probably should have an introduction page on this blog, but it feels way too late for that now. So I'll just dive in where we're at.

Corin started smiling around week 5 and just hasn't stopped. He'll talk back at us in those cute little coo's. I forgot how mesmerizing that is. He smiles at Gwyneth too when she's not squishing him. Jeremy even gets a giggle out of him at times.
